Being a leader goes beyond simply excelling in your role. It's about projecting a positive influence, taking a stand when others won't, and establishing the benchmark for others to emulate. Leadership is about the impact you make and the example you set for others to follow.

Culture.I recently had a good friend tell me that setting the tone wouldn't affect our little group. Myself, New York Red Bulls, Sir Alex Furguson, and Jurgen Klopp couldn't disagree more, respectfully.Schein's Culture Model at Work:Level 1 - Core Assumptions aka "What We Believe": Giving of myself for others regardless of what they can get me creates the best environment for allLevel 2 - Espoused Values or "What We Say": I will give of myself for others regardless of what they can get meLevel 3 - Behaviour and Artifacts or "What We Do": See the clip belowHow you treat people matters everywhere you go, people are always taking notes silently.Oh, and would you look at what it means to the kids.

Bild is among 14 organisations calling on our political leaders to take action to protect the rights of people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people. “As a society we can decide whether we provide children and adults with learning disabilities, and autistic children and adults, with the support and services, including a named social worker, which we know enables them to lead the fulfilling lives that they have a right to. We know it is possible.”Read the full letter here https://lnkd.in/e2bbn-fW

Signed. Oliver's story is heartbreaking and lessons must be learned. If I could add our own small story. No one spotted our daughter's ASD - not until her burnout aged 14. She's been an expert masker and high achiever - but looking back there were so many markers. Occasionally I could be heard to say "it's almost like she's autistic, but of course she isn't..." As parents we were reaching out for support everywhere, but while she masked at school, it was incredibly hard. A big red flag (in my humble opinion) should be when parents consistently describe a very different child to the one who shows up at school.... And this is from a parent, who already had another daughter diagnosed autistic (but with a learning disability also)... The more awareness and training there is, the fewer children will have to reach burnout before "support". We finally had the confidence to say "we think she's autistic" after watching Christine McGuinness get her diagnosis. And I put the wheels in motion for a diagnosis. That's right - A TV show - not an "expert".Please sign - it may save another child (or many) from a late diagnosis and all the damage that happens in that delay. We all need the right skills, knowledge and environment around us, to thrive. Oliver's story is the truth of how badly people with autism and a learning disability can be let down with tragic consequences. When actually we often have the solutions to make life good or better.I would add perhaps that GP training could be beefed up too, as we were unable to get any support here - they simply didn't believe our daughter was autistic because she didn't fit the typical (male biased) expectation of autism. And a final word: Current waiting time in Essex for a child to reach point of diagnosis is 3.5 years... Acceptable? No. It isn't.#ASD #AutismAwareness #SENMum #SENCO
