Fundraisers do not *just* raise dollars. They carry a deep knowledge about the #nonprofit mission area and its theory of change, most resonant programs, donor personas, etc. Fundraisers go deep on learning the mission area.I used to work in marine conservation -- did you know that a single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day! Do you ever think about the impact of your time?We spend a lot of mental energy (and stress) thinking about how much time we "spend" out of our daily budget.1/3 of the day at work1/3 of the day sleeping1/12 of the day doing houseworketc.But what if we changed the perspective on our time spent, and looked at it as time invested in impact? I bet you'd feel a whole lot better about where your hours are going (if not, you should be doing a time audit!)Yesterday, myself and some team members at Dopple invested a small amount of our time to contribute to a large impact.Investing just 0.0833 of our day, we sorted through almost 20 bags of donated clothing and organized brand new hygiene products like toothbrushes and shampoo. With just a tiny part of our day, we were able to support an organization that partners with over 300 agencies and has served close to 50,000 children in the area. This was more than a 2 hour appointment on a calendar.This was more than "an afternoon spent"This was community. This was contribution. This was caring. This was IMPACT.This is the relationship we should have with our time, and how we choose to invest it.

The cleanup and tear-down operations of the NFL Draft has delivered unexpected benefits to local nonprofits. Materials such as carpeting, wood, and the very stairs that NFL hopefuls ascended as their names were called are finding a second life. DETROIT DOG RESCUE is at the forefront of this initiative, cleverly repurposing these elements to build a new spay and neuter clinic on Detroit's east side.The new clinic will provide essential services such as free spaying and neutering to help manage and support the local dog population. Beyond the direct benefits to DDR, this effort is setting a precedent for sustainability and community support. The materials salvaged from the NFL Draft are also being distributed to other nonprofits in the area, helping them enhance their facilities and expand their services. Choose Senior Gleaners on Giving TuesdayThanks to volunteers, residents and grocers, we are on track to recover about 150,000 pounds of food otherwise wasted this year. Since 1994, volunteers and people or businesses with extra food have fed hundreds of thousands of hungry county residents.What if we all came together to support this mission. We can!Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving on November 28 and Senior Gleaners is participating. Giving Tuesday will be the start of a fundraising drive to purchase a new or late model van next year. Our goal is to raise $11,000 in the next few months to match a grant from the City of San Diego for this purpose.
